Freeview products are an excellent way for UK consumers to begin to experience all the benefits of digital television signals. The receivers allow you to pick up a number of different television channels as well as digital radio stations. One of the nicest additions to the product’s line is the Freeview HD receiver/recorder. This product allows not only the viewing of crisp, clear HD programmes, it also allows you to record your favourite television programmes so that you can watch them later. Depending on the size of the hard drive in the recorder you choose to buy you may be able to record up to 500 hours worth of television. One question that may be crossing your mind is that if you upgrade to Freeview HD what channels you will be able to watch in High Definition.

HD Channels HD

BBC One is available in HD and offers all the great programmes available on the standard definition BBC One channel, but with much better picture quality allowing you to really enjoy the full potential of your high definition television. ITV 1 is another HD channel that is available through the Freeview HD receiver. Channel 4 HD offers a variety of programmes from Britain and abroad, along with special series that are only available on Channel 4 HD.

In order to enjoy this plethora of available HD programming you only need to take a few steps. If you already have a high definition television you merely need to purchase a Freeview HD receiver and plug it up to your television set. If you have not already purchased a high definition television you have a couple of options. You can purchase a high definition television from your local electronics retailer along with a Freeview HD receiver, or you can buy a high definition television with a Freeview HD receiver already integrated into the unit.

I can’t afford an HD TV – now what?

What if you simply cannot afford to buy a high definition television right now? Does that mean that you cannot enjoy all the interesting and informative programmes that Freeview has to offer? Not at all. You can buy a regular Freeview receiver and it will allow your standard definition television to pick up a number of digital signals that would not be available without it. This way you will enjoy a wider selection of programmes and for free, without monthly subscriptions and payments.

There really is so much more that you could be getting from your television, and purchasing a Freeview receiver will allow you to access it. Whether it is in your budget to only buy the regular Freeview receiver or you have the means to purchase a new high definition television with a Freeview HD receiver built in, now is the time to make the switch. The change to digital signals is scheduled to be completed in 2012, so there is not too much time left for those who are still watching TV in the old fashion and traditional way instead of using a Freeview receiver.
